Shanghai Expo Centre  上海世博中心

Shanghai didn’t become a global city by accident. It was a fishing village until the mid-1800s, then exploded after 1842 when it opened as a treaty port. Since then it has been China’s financial gateway and one of the busiest commercial

hubs in the world.

Travel to Shanghai

Flying into Shanghai is straightforward — the city has two major airports:

    · Pudong International Airport (PVG) — main international hub

    · Hongqiao Airport (SHA) — mostly domestic and some regional flights

Most long-haul international flights land at PVG. It’s modern, efficient, and well-connected.

Arrival tips

· Expect busy immigration at peak hours — plan 30–60 minutes

· Visa-free transit rules exist for many nationalities (check before departure)

· Airport express train (Maglev) runs to the city — fast, but taxi or ride-hailing may be simpler if you have luggage

· Taxis are reliable — avoid unofficial drivers

· English signage is good, but not everywhere — have your hotel address written in Chinese

· Airlines commonly serving Shanghai Major carriers like Delta, United, Air China, Emirates, Qatar, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Cathay, and many others operate regular flights.

Best time to fly

· Spring (March–May) and fall (Sept–Nov) — comfortable weather, smoother experience

· Summer is hot and humid; avoid Golden Week holidays (crowds)

Quick tip: Book your flight tickets as early as possible. For international flights, choose Pudong Airport for your arrival. If you need hotel pick-up and drop-off services, please make preparations in advance.
